The Bridge of Kisses

This famous bridge over the Moyka river lies near the 13th bus stop of our sightseeing tour.

There is a theory that the bridge was a border line of the city in the 18th century and thereby it was a place for  farewell among those who were leaving and residents. It was also common to kiss on the bridge as a sign of reconciliation. Yet another hypothesis claims that lovers used to make secret dates on this bridge.

Via these legends a number of folk saying appeared to be connected with this bridge:

If  a couple kisses on or under  the bridge, they will be happy together for the oncoming year or more (depending on the length of the kiss)

The separation of those who kissed here won’t be long

If the kiss of just married couple started on the one bank of the river and ended up at the other, they are guaranteed with a happy marriage.

Sphere fountain

The fountain, which fulfills wishes, is situated at the Malaya Sodovaya str., not far from the 4th bus stop of  City Tour. It is made in the form of a huge bowl and weights more than 700 kilos. Moreover, it functions as clocks: there are 12 stairs with numbers in front of the sphere. Through the rotation of the bowl the streams fall to a certain mark.

To fulfill your wish you should turn your back on the fountain and throw a coin over the shoulder. The coin will fall on the stair which will indicate how many times you should roll the bowl for a dream to come true.

The lion bridge

Another bridge that will make you happier is located not far from the 13th stop of our red double-decker. According to the legend, couples have been coming here to know who will be their baby: a boy or a girl. They were waiting for the first person to cross the bridge a woman or a man. And the omens came true! If you are not waiting for a baby, you may also make a wish here. Just pat one of the lions.
